ePowerTrucks has supplied four custom-built electric tunnel maintenance vehicles for use on a major tunnel project.
The vehicles have been designed specifically for use inside the tunnel, where space is limited and conventional vehicles are not always practical.
A key feature of the vehicles is that they can be driven from either end. This means operators can change direction without having to turn the vehicle around, an important advantage when working in a confined tunnel environment.
Each vehicle has been built to meet the requirements of the project, with the specification tailored around the work they will be carrying out and the conditions they will be operating in.
Being electrically powered also makes the vehicles well suited to enclosed environments, providing a quieter alternative to conventional diesel-powered vehicles and avoiding exhaust emissions inside the tunnel.
The four vehicles will be used to support maintenance work throughout the project, transporting people, equipment and materials as required.
