Field Service/Workshop Technician

We are looking for field engineers for our fast-growing company in Oldham who must be prepared to work away on an ad hoc basis. Duties include: servicing, maintaining and fault diagnostics for our range of electrically powered equipment, EV Trucks and battery powered handling equipment. Must have a strong electrical background and be confident with trouble shooting and diagnosing in the field and workshop. This is a hybrid role and does involve some working time be spent in our Oldham depot on a regular basis. The candidate must also be able to stay away some nights when required to support colleagues in other areas of the UK.

Job brief

This is an opportunity within our company for a professional Technician to join our team, you will be providing service, repair, and customer support during field visits to deliver the desired customer service experience. In addition, the engineer will spend time working in our busy workshop, either working on equipment brought back in from the field, or supporting their permanent workshop based colleagues during busy periods, therefore the candidate must be based within a reasonable commutable distance of our Oldham depot.

You will be required to report to our service team with the following responsibilities:

· Service and repair of vast range of electric powered trucks and lifting equipment

· Advanced fault finding, diagnostics

· Provide timely and detailed service reports

· Follow all company’s procedures and protocols

· Van stock management

· Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organisation

· Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings

· LOLER & Thorough examinations

· Build positive relationships with customers

Requirements

· Proven field service experience

· Electrical Biased

· Extensive experience in Mechanical Engineering, Auto Electrical Engineering including a wide range of equipment such as material handling, lifting products and/or electric trucks.

· Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment

· English literacy

· Ability to work flexible hours

· Ability to work away from home (Maximum of 8-10 nights per month) if required

· Full and clean driving licence

· Technical degree or certification (Not Essential)

· Experience and knowledge of both AC and DC motors

Workshop Senior Engineer

Responsibilities

· The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter and independent thinker who is comfortable working on their own or as the senior engineer in a team.

· Strong coaching skills, fostering a culture of innovation and employee development.

· Reporting to the Operations Supervisor.

· Attending weekly/daily production meetings with the Operations Supervisor.

· They will possess strong auto-electrical and mechanical skills, interpersonal communication skills, and be willing to learn. They will be capable of diagnostic work on unfamiliar equipment with limited technical reference documents and work to high-quality standards. They will be self-critical, resulting in a general improvement on any equipment which they repair. They must have an extensive auto-electrical biased ability in order to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment.

 

The role will include (but is not limited to):

· Preparation of new equipment for sale.

· Minor modification to existing customers’ equipment when recovered for in depth diagnostics and repair.

· Small-scale fabrication of bracketry and mountings.

· Receipt inspections and associated report writing.

· Off-hire inspections and associated report generation.

· Updating their progress on the technical support software (Protean).

· Identification and part number sourcing for all parts required for repairs post-inspection.

· Investigation of faults on products returned from the field.

· Mentor and upskill colleagues by example in best practices.

· QC inspections of work produced by the workshop team.

· General tidiness of their own work areas and that all work is always carried out in a safe and responsible manner, strictly observing all Company and regulatory body Health & Safety procedures including Manual Handling Regulations

· Service and repair of a vast range of electric-powered trucks and lifting equipment

· Advanced fault finding, diagnostics

· Provide timely and detailed service reports

· Follow all company procedures and protocols

· Cooperate with the technical team and share information across the organization

· Accounting for any issued tools.

· Test driving of repaired equipment.

· Load testing of lifting attachments and lifters.

· Report of Thorough Examination IAW LOLER (Desirable)

· In-depth diagnosis (of failed equipment recovered to the workshop) and associated report writing

· Accept and partake in any and all training (internal/external) provided by the company to upskill and improve his/her skill-set.

 

 

 

 

Essential qualifications/experience:

 

· C&G Pt 1 & 2 in an engineering discipline (or demonstrable equivalent experience).

· NVQ Level 1-2 in an Engineering discipline (or demonstrable equivalent experience).

· Key skills level 1 in English and Maths (or GCSE equivalent).

· Thorough understanding of basic electrics (Ohms law, power equations etc).

· Experience & understanding of IT based diagnosis equipment.

· C&G Motor Vehicle Studies

Desirable qualifications/experience:

· Previous experience with Protean software/PDA.

· Familiarity with Curtis, Iscra, Toyota and Zappi motor controllers and battery gauges.

· Basic understanding of the principles of operation of AC motor systems.

· Apprentice trained.

· NVQ Level 1 – Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair

· NVQ Level 2 – Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair

· NVQ Level 3 – Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair

· Programming experience with Curtis, Zappi, & controllers.

ePowerTrucks/Lift Safe Ltd are currently seeking to recruit an Area Sales Manager to join our sales team. We are looking for an experienced, passionate and driven sales account manager who will enjoy being part of an enthusiastic sales team. 

As a company, we have been providing electric vehicles to a wide variety of industries for the last 20 years.  In this role you will be responsible for selling the Glutton brand of equipment. This will include a pedestrian street vacuum as well as a road legal electric street sweeper. You will be responsible for sales in the South of the UK.

As an experienced sales manager, you will have the ability and understanding to look after customers from the initial enquiry through to handover of equipment, advising them on finance and maintenance products and ensuring that their expectations of the sales process are exceeded. We are looking for enthusiasm along with experience in face-to-face/showroom sales.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Possess excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
